Based on the genset life cycle when the engine is at near end of life (starting 10000 hours), an overhaul is needed. However, before making such decision, an analysis of the following attributes are needed:

  1. Fail to achieve rated power (low power)

  2. Unusual noise

  3. Excessive oil consumption

  4. Low pressure even at idle

  5. Oil is mixed with water (Oil dilution)

  6. High engine vibrations

  7. White smoke coming out from exhaust

  8. Excessive blow-by
